Welcome at limnology.eu

Main scientific interests and areas

Ecological stoichiometry: life is dependent on energy and a multitute of different chemical elements. Working in the field of ecological stoichiometry means investigating the balance of chemical elements in ecological interactions.

Biodiversity and functional diversity: determining the drivers and consequences of high or low diversity in communities is a central theme of ecology.  Diversity interacts in a complex way with nutrient uptake dynamics in plankton communities

Aquatic experimental ecology: experiments covering a gradient from highly controlled laboratory investigations up to natural, large scale  experiments with natural communities under natural conditions in different aquatic systems will broaden our knowledge about the interactions of biodiversity, nutrient loading and ecosystem services
